The project is a cooperation between the company Aipermon and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Prävention und Rehabilitation von Herz-Kreislauferkrankungen (Phase III) - German Association for Prevention and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Diseases. According to various studies an achieved reduction of cardiovascular risk factors after a residential rehabilitation is not sustainable for more than 12 months for many patients. The purpose of the DGPR study is to analyse whether a positive long-term influence of risk factors of patients with chronic heart diseases is possible by using an interdisciplinary therapy approach. This new approach is based on the participation in a Heart Patients Support Group (“Herzgruppe”) including the training programme Vision2 “Healthy Heart” as well as an additional heart rate controlled and telemetric activity monitoring.
Procedure of the studyThe study will be conducted in Heart Patient Support Groups spread over the 16 federal states in Germany. The participants will be randomly assigned to an intervention group or a control group. The participants in the intervention group will get an AiperSunny activity sensor for 3 months during the study. The device records automatically all activities of the user. Therefore it should be worn every day. On a weekly basis Aipermon provides the patients with a feedback showing their physical activity since the beginning of the study, a summary of their weekly activities and a trend comparison to the previous week. Besides the analysis of the activity data, these patients get health advices by the DGPR which are based on the training programme Vision2 “Healthy Heart”.
The patients of the intervention group will experience their personal sunrise every day – when the user reaches a certain level of physical activity during the day the sun is rising on the display of the AiperSunny. Based on the weekly feedbacks the participants will be ranked within their groups in order to generate a competitive situation. This should further motivate the participants to integrate more exercise in their everyday life. The feedback letters also include valuable advices for their physical activity as well as a weekly health and nutritional tip . These health and nutritional tips are again based on the training programme Vision2 “Healthy Heart” from the company Mebix and complete the holistic therapy concept.
