Weight loss in case of adipositas -
Active Body Control Program

Adipositas results mainly from overeating and lack of activity. Many programs try to correct overeating, although few control the daily amount of activity and document lack of activity as such. A new program, developed by Prof. Luley at the University clinic of Magdeburg, uses the effects of continuous telemonitoring of weight and physical activity on weight loss.

The ABC-program focuses on measuring physical activity via activity sensors, a diet combination and charge.

Motivation and feedback

With the ABC-program, advisors regularly gain access to participant data over the internet and answers them in a weekly letter, in which he comments on data and motivates participants.

Use in studies

The program has been used in various studies, for example among 28 ‘healthy’ yet overweight people with a medium BMI of 34.5kg/m2 for three months. The ABC-program delivered excellent results: participants reduced their weight by 9.9kg. Their blood pressure fell by 11/7 mm Hg, meaning that participants with blood pressure >130/80 mm Hg lowered from 57% to 36%.

Aipermon provided the activity sensors and the Aipermon Service Center for this study.
